When acids combine with Methyl Red, they usually produce a red substance.
When bases combine with Bromothymol Blue, they usually produce a blue substance.
A pH indicator is a compound that changes color insolution over a narrow range of pH values. Basically it's an acid-base indicator. When you add a different indicator to the problem solutions, they change color and show different pH values.
